"Man is but grass"

The Rober Graves poem of war below fits the emotion
that emerged as I processed this photograph. Please comment
if you see and feel like sharing.

"Man Is But Grass" 2011

"Kill if you must, but never hate:
Man is but grass and hate is blight,
The sun will scorch you soon or late,
Die wholesome then, since
You must fight."

Pizza!!!

Pizza!!!

Again with my point and shoot Panasonic. While sitting at the end of the bar eating a great pizza, I set my camera on the bar. The camera is noiseless, I'm eating and snapping images between bites. I love the contrast between square tiles around the open fire stove and the blurred motion of the cooks. This really represents the mood of the moment. The cooks were moving fast putting out the orders. Especially the cook on the right, sliding a pizza onto a serving pan.

A few months back I went to the Albuquerque International Airport to pickup my son Shane and his now wife Alicia. While waiting for them I noticed the clouds through one of the many windows at the airport. Then I noticed the reflections of the lights. This was way to much for me to ignore. I gathered up my little point and shoot and captured this image. A little post processing of course.
I normally use a Nikon D3, however have become somewhat use to carrying this little Panasonic point and shoot camera. It does fairly well in situations like this. Below is another example from this camera. Another airport shot, in St. Louis this time.

I am not normally fond of a square format these days. The camera setting was inadertantly changed and I was suprised by how much fun it was working on and looking at this image.

I love this image!

I sat with my father today, shooting, trying to capture something. I wasn't sure what.
I have been taking pictures of my dad for many years. And finally, I think I may have captured his essence.
It will have to be looked at many times before I can be sure. I gotta tell ya, I love this image.

I have to believe that each image that I shoot is interesting subject matter to me. Even while I process the image I must remain interested. Most images don't make it past the first viewing. A few keep my attention.
These few are the ones that I present, hoping they may be enjoyed by a few people. The image above is one of these.
I watched the pile of mostly metal mesh accumilate at my scrap metal business. It stuck in my mind for more than two weeks. Each time I walked past the pile it caused me to pause. Finaly, yesterday I spent most of the day producing it. I love the way the lines intersect with the circles. The courseness of the background. The shape of the letter "T". Which originally was not the letter "T".

Sunday Shooter

Shooting today, I am really drawn to abstract design. Yesterday, I noticed a stack of scrap metal screens at my scrap metal yard. The yard is closed on Sunday, so I will be left alone to shoot.
My imagination has been whirling around this stack of metal screen mesh parts and and components. I can see the light floating among them. They lay on an old antiquish white box.
I can visualize the finished image in my head. Black and white, the mesh and light layered for depth. The complex nooks and crannies. Love doing this type of photography.
